Wash Sparingly:
Quilts should be washed only when necessary to avoid wear and tear. Excessive washing can weaken the fabrics and stitching over time.

Use Gentle Detergents:
When washing is necessary, use a mild, dye-free, and fragrance-free detergent. Avoid using bleach or fabric softeners as they can damage the fabric and affect the colors.

Hand Wash or Machine Wash on Gentle Cycle:
If the quilt is sturdy, you can machine wash it on a gentle cycle with cold water. For older or more delicate quilts, hand washing in a large tub with minimal agitation is preferable.

Dry Flat or Air Dry:
Avoid the dryer if possible. Instead, lay the quilt flat to dry on a clean surface out of direct sunlight, or hang it evenly on a clothesline. Sunlight can fade the fabric colors.

Rotate and Refold:
To avoid permanent creasing and to distribute wear evenly, rotate and refold your stored quilts periodically. Try to fold them differently each time to prevent stress on the same folds.

Avoid Direct Sunlight:
When displaying quilts, keep them out of direct sunlight to prevent fading. UV rays can significantly degrade fabrics over time.
